'First produced in a metal stamping factory on the outskirts of Paris in 1933, the Nicolle chair was adaptable to all types of workstations. Its distinctive form designed to meet the most up-to-date comfort and safety standards at the time. These stamped steel chairs were widely distributed in factories, workshops and offices through industrial furniture catalogues that are themselves beautiful examples of the vintage industrial aesthetic. Discontinued in 1990, the Nicolle chair remained a cult favourite among collectors of vintage industrial furniture and it has since been re-issued using the same manufacturing process and tooling as the original versions. With its instantly recognisable ‘Whale Tail’ back, the Nicolle originally intended for industrial use, is now a stylish presence in domestic and urban spaces.'

When researching interiors for Nicolle chairs be sure to look at Jean Marc Dimanche’s contemporary house in Paris, which has a lovely image of Nicolle’s around an industrial dining table. Also see Paola Navone’s Paris apartment which is a fantastic showcase for mixing industrial pieces with contemporary interiors.
