I was delighted to read Kate Finnigans' article ‘Beauty Spot”, in October #Vogue on #ClaudiaSchiffers modernist country home in Oxfordshire. Claudia’s interest in Mid Century furniture, contemporary art and vintage finds has inspired stunning interiors.
This is what Claudia says about her approach to Interior Design. “I know there are some ways of working with Interior Designers, where everything is decided and laid out. But I like working exactly the opposite way. I like finding one chair and thinking, ‘ok what goes with that?’ I love building things up, because then it’s about who you are as a family.’
Claudia has been updating the house slowly for a year, with the aim of making it feel like a relaxed family home.
Claudia loves mid-centurydesign and quote, ’I love the wood and leather combined with sheepskin and Moroccan rugs and modern art, natural surfaces and tones with splashes of colour. The house is full of traces of Claudia’s life, layered with things she has collected on her travels. Including a collection of photography, art & fashion books and momorabelia from her early modelling days with Guess. And of course, the archived super model wardrobe of which, one can only believe to be collected from an incredible career in fashion.
The living room picture shows two beautiful curved #Tacchini Julep boucle sofas and mid-century Danish armchairs by Finn Juhl with a huge Moroccan, #BeniOurain rug. Claudia is a frequent visitor to online vintage platforms such as 1st Dibbs, Pamona and Vinterior, where one finds a host of individual collectors and sellers of vintage & antique pieces.
