Tales From The Watermill Part 6

The Dressing Room

. If you want to paint a floral mural there is no better inspiration than the artist #GeorgiaOKeeffe. A 20th Century American painter and pioneer of #AmericanModernism, famous for paintings of flowers and Mexican landscapes, ‘flowers excited her with their chambers & contours, their frills and fleshy folds, their potential for abstract form.’

Here are a few of my favourite images, beautiful irises and blousy blooms rich & serene.

After refurbishing the wardrobes in soft French grey, the small space needed some personality of its own. Firstly, an upcycled heart mirror from a previous project, antique mirror wall lights from #AgapanthusInteriors then painting the peony wall mural as a backdrop. I struggled to find an affordable dressing table but eventually found a 1970’s Stag Minstrel brown furniture table on Ebay which I stripped and painted, adding glass handles from Anthropologie. They have a great selection of pull handles which can really transform a piece of furniture. I love the retro pink velvet ‘Pill Pouf’ by #Houtique. I purchased this through #Pamona a great platform for vintage, antique and new designer pieces.

This room is quirky, fun and just makes me smile.
